Last night Stroud District Council held its AGM, I am very honoured to have been elected as council leader for the fifth time. I am proud to be part of such a great Labour & Cooperative team of councillors, and also part of the Labour-Green-Liberal Democrat Cooperative Alliance.
The work we do has been reflected in the Local Government Association’s independent peer report we brought to council last night. As the report says, “Stroud District Council is a good council – it has ambitions to be great and is progressing well on the way to achieving this. The council should be proud of what has been achieved over the last three years and in responding to the pandemic.”
We have some real challenges ahead of us this coming year as we work on delivering the council plan, and also do what we can to support our communities facing the greatest cost of living crisis we’ve seen in a generation.
